For my senior thesis, I designed an exhibition that explores the evolution of English typography and how it relates to a visual language. This exhibition was originally planned at Tyler School of Art and Architecture. I selected a location that would allow me to hang banners to create my own space for people to read and walk around. My exhibition shows different typefaces and the basics of English typography using iPads. As someone who enjoys learning different languages, I wanted even English language learners to study a different perspective.
The Evolution of English Typography features three long banners creating an inner space with two hanging curtain walls of alphabets. The ipads in the exhibition space include a linear timeline of how the English language has evolved and a writing exercise to easily practice. As someone who enjoys learning different languages, I wanted even international readers to learn something new.
